I finally managed to finish these. It took me longer than I thought, and life got busy, but I kept at it! This exercise definitely helped me think about the way the hair sits on the head and how if flows around it. It's challenging to draw a hairstyles from different angles when you've only got reference photo - it means there's a lot of thinking about how the hair actually works. I had fun doing these studies! I'm ready to move away from hair though and move onto, hopefully, expressions next.
Here are the reference photos I did use. A couple of them show the hair from more than one angle which helped a lot.
